Embers offers a delightful veg and non-veg fare straight off the grill.
MANGALOREANS NOW have something new to tingle their taste buds. Embers, by the pool at Taj Manjuran, is a delight for anyone who loves grilled food.
The restaurant is inside a bamboo grove, which gives it a distinct feel and look. The special treat of grilled food, which started this week, will be a permanent feature at the hotel, says Terry D'Souza, Food and Beverages Manager.
He says that the aroma wafting from a grill should be enjoyed outdoors and that's what makes Embers an ideal place for this special treat. The pool, the adjoining lawns, and the canopy of bamboos make it the perfect setting for hot and spicy grills, he adds. The Grille Chef of the hotel, Saratchandra Bannerjee, says that what he offers is a delightful mix vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods.
The vegetarian grills (each platter at Rs. 125) include harabara kabab, tandoori gobi, and the like. The mixed grilled vegetable and achari paneer tikka tease your tongue too.
Among the non-vegetarian grills (that are priced at Rs. 170) grilled breast of chicken with pepper mushroom sauce is a delight. Murgh malai kabab, reshmi kabab, Mugalai tangdi kabab and lamb chops with saffron, mashed potato and red wine sauce, mutton sheek kabab, mutton shammi kabab and boti kababs are the goodies that come from the tandoor.
For those who like the taste of grilled seafood, there are grilled fillet of fish with mushroom dill cream sauce and tandoori pomfret. They are priced at Rs. 160 each.
Those who like their food spicy can choose from pudina fish tikka and ajwain machi tikka. The special seafood comes at Rs. 200 and the fare boasts orange soya grilled prawns with noodles and grilled vegetables, lasooni jinga (jumbo prawns), grilled crab, and more.
All of them come with a choice of Indian breads, rice and gravy, or bread.
