Another multi-cuisine diner dots the gastronomical landscape
THIS IS a place to go to after you have partied hard over the weekend. Or when you need to go out for that Sunday lunch with the family. It doesn't psyche you up, has a woodsy dιcor and muted illumination - in other words unassuming and quaint. Surprisingly, since it is located in the bustling My Home Tycoon Building and adjacent to 10 Downing Street!
With a name like Carrot one would probably assume that it has to do with diet food, but no, just check out the place for its robust fare. Barely 45 days old, it has people walking in droves.
"We have executives coming here during the lunch hour for the buffet. We do get a lot of bookings for kitty parties during afternoons. Evenings typically has family crowd. This is essentially a multi-cuisine restaurant. We have a resort in Bangalore and this is our first venture in the twin cities. The flavours are pretty local people love spicy food here. At the moment we have Chinese, Continental and north Indian cuisine. Shortly we would be adding south Indian delicacies such as Chinta chiguru mamsam and Mutton Iguru," says Harshavardhan, managing partner, Carrot Multi Cuisine Family Dining Bar.
"We worked on the interiors for over three months," he adds explaining the theme of music, used as a relief, across painted niches and digital prints plus instrumental notes wafting around. And there's more to the ambience.
Spaghetti, macaroni and other pasta variants stacked in layers like a spice jars, aquariums with goldfish, black suckers and little sharks, provide adequate visual stimulant as one bites into Aloo tikka, Chilly baby corn and Egg spring rolls, followed by American chopsuey, Mutton biryani and Double sundae.
If you are a Conti buff, there is Vegetarian steak sizzlers and Chicken shaslik. There is something about the flavoured Conti rice that is irresistible. Prawns paprika succulent prawns soaked in port wine and cooked in peppercorn sauce, served with buttered rice laced with grapes and carrots.
And well, you can sip some sparkling Marquis de Pompadour or Red wine to go with it.
While on beverages, this place also serves tea, coffee and hot chocolate, the much-needed refreshing cuppa after bouts of shopping.
