THE LAND of smiling faces ... Thailand showcases the way of the Buddha in every aspect of life. Simple and aesthetic, the Thai culture believes in celebrating beauty. The crafts of the country too reflect the traditional beauty of a culture that combines Indian and Oriental influences.
The Singing Sutra, an exhibition from today till October 2 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) at Apparao Galleries (7, Wallace Gardens, 3rd Street) will have on display utilitarian objects, bas relief panels, bowls, rain drums and wooden sculptures of the Buddha.
PAINTER, INTERIOR designer and writer Amita Behal is presenting her works of art for the first time in Chennai. The Nagpur-based artist uses vibrant colours to portray spirituality and women from a masculine perspective.
The exhibition is on from today till October 2, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Slate Room, Jidoka Store, Nungambakkam High Road.
