WITH INFLATION and search for innovative designs Cubic Zirconia has replaced diamonds, though it kind of spoils the metre harmony of the Nicole Kidman song.
Signity and Surya Gold recently launched a stylish range of jewellery in Cubic Zirconia in the city. The collection called `Diana Cut' comprising bow-shaped gems is a tribute to Diana the Goddess of Hunting. Marketed in India by Surya Golds, Diana Cut designs are both contemporary and affordable.
"Cubic Zirconia is the best imitation for diamonds so far. The demand for the stone has been growing immensely," said Pierre Alain Kohler, chief marketing officer, Signity at a press conference in Le Royal Meridien.
"Till recently people preferred to go in for plain gold as it was seen as a good investment too. However, this notion has been fast changing and jewellery in stones is gaining in popularity," he adds.
Set in 18K and 22K, with perfect cut and unique designs, this collection is priced between Rs. 900 and Rs. 25,000. "Diana Cut has been designed keeping in mind modern Indian woman who choose to wear lightweight jewellery for all occasions," said Jean Michelle Roux, vice president, Signity AG, North Middle East and India.
"We want to offer a perfect synergy of value and style, as jewellery has now become an essential accessory that represents individual style," said Dinesh Shoor of Surya Golds.
Along with Pierre Alain Kohler and Jean Michelle Roux of Signity, Chennai's very own, the graceful Miss India-Asia Pacific 2004 Simran Chandok and Swetha Vijay, Miss India- Earth 2004, who unveiled the exquisite collection. "India being a promising and exciting market for us we hope to introduce more products with international quality, " said Jean Michelle Roux. Signity and with Surya Golds also organised a fashion show to mark the launch. Diana Cut will be available in about 2,000 outlets across the country.
