Scoops of delight
Arun Ice Cream now has a company-owned outlet at Spencer Plaza offering a variety of flavours
GIVING MORE reason for `I scream, you scream... ' types to indulge in a sumptuous scoop of sundaes, Arun Ice Creams has launched its first company owned outlet Arun Unlimited-Scooping Ice Cream Pub. Adding to the list of swanky eat outs in Spencer Plaza, this outlet hopes to make eating ice cream an essential part of the visit to the plaza. "Although we are happy with the franchisee outlets, we thought that we could reach to our customers in a better manner through our own outlet," says Prasanna Venkatesh, brand head, Arun Ice Creams. With its cool blue ambience, sumptuous sundaes and fruit fantasies, Arun Ice Creams also expects to attract those wanting to enjoy that scoop at an affordable price. The steel and glass theme and the waterfall effect on the walls lend an aesthetic touch to the outlet.
Says Prasanna Venkatesh, "Having your own outlet gives the freedom to work on the interiors, which plays an important role in attracting customers."
Apart from the four basic flavours, there are 16 that are exclusive to this outlet. "We want to make it an innovative parlour with a pre-fixed menu where customers get to relax over an ice cream," says Prasanna. The menu comprises single, double and triple scoop sundaes, and exclusive varieties such as Adam `n' Eve (a combination of vanilla and chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce, cookies and praline), Pied Piper (almond crisp ice cream with chocolate sauce, and chocolate), Tornado (a combination of caramello, coffee and strawberry ice cream in strawberry sauce) and Dessert Dream (a mixture of raj bhog, malai kulfi and cashew almond ice cream with kesar sauce, pista and cashew nuts) to mention a few. The single, double and triple scoops are priced at Rs. 25, Rs. 45 and Rs. 65 respectively.
However, customers can also mix and match the flavours. One of the special features is that customers can order required quantities, say 100 gm which costs Rs. 25. "This way we try and give value for money."
The ice creams are also available in cones. "We will be adding more flavours to the menu, according to feedback from customers" he says. Although the outlet has a capacity to accommodate a maximum of 30 people at a time, Prasanna Venkatesh says very few sit in the parlour to eat ice cream. "Most people prefer to walk around the plaza, even while enjoying their favourite flavour. So far, space doesn't seem to be a constraint."
Arun Ice Creams is located on the second floor, Phase III, Spencer Plaza.
