A BEAUTY talking of making you look beautiful. A well-dressed lady telling you how to carry yourself with style! Worth learning, you said? Well, former model and actress, the-still-so beautiful Malavika Tiwari is your lady then.
Signed up by Lakme, Malavika these days is giving willing souls a tip or two to smarten up their image. The venue to contact her is the nearest Lakme Beauty Salon. "Actually, it is a package. I am the image consultant. I help customers to liven up their overall personality. Then there is Vandana Punjabi, a dermatologist and cosmetologist who talks about topics of personal hygiene and skin care with customers," Malavika says in her admirable husky voice and that dimple!
Till now advising at the corporate level including the Jet Airways crew, HDFC employees and a few others, the lady says she could not refuse when Lakme asked her to provide her services to the customers visiting their beauty salons. "It was the long association with the brand that I couldn't say no," the former Lakme model states. Coming across people willing to get an image makeover, Malavika says more than men, there are women coming for tips so far. "But with my experience I can tell you most people have it in them but what they lack is confidence. And, I try to instil that," this graduate in French from the Jawaharlal Nehru University gives instances like suggesting clients not to be overweight, to dress up correctly according to one's figure, to have a hair style that suits their faces, to walk the way they should, to speak the way they should... .
Surprisingly for her, Malavika says, people here still look at her twice if she uses the term Personal Imaging. "Most of them do not understand it but with so much happening now around us, with corporatisation of everything, with so much stress on presentation, on one's looks and conduct, etc, it has become an absolute necessity," she remarks.
To promote the concept, Malavika and Vandana alongwith well-known international hair stylist Damon Kidd, gave free imaging tips to willing ones at a Lakme salon in the Lakme India Fashion Week early this month.
Making a mark on audience's minds through diverse roles in tele-serials like Kashish, Chanakya, The Sword of Tipu Sultan and Ketan Mehta's Pradhan Mantri, Malavika says, besides being image consultant, she is working on a book on old stained glass. "It is a research project funded by INTACH which I hope to turn into a book. For this, I have made many a trip to couple of places in Jaipur, Udaipur etc," she says. Also on the anvil is "a compilation of 10 years of my studio work".
Not willing to say goodbye to her acting career, she says with her trademark smile, "I am avidly looking for work. No one has contacted me." Well, anyone listening? The lady is not bad before camera.
