Art from all over
ART AND craft from all over India. That sums up the exhibition organised by Kala Srusti at the C. P. Art Centre, Eldams Road, Alwarpet. On show is an amazing array of artefacts by various self-help groups and craft clusters from across the country. Carved wooden toys from Kondapalli, crochet work, cotton dhurries, jewellery, Banjara embroidery, soft toys, handloom saris, kalamkari paintings, khurja pottery, leather puppets and articles, silver filigree work - there's so much you could pick up for your home.
The exhibition, which is on till March 30, also features live demonstrations by artisans.
Kala Srusti, though a voluntary organisation, based in Andhra Pradesh, works for the uplift of craft and craftspersons not only in that State but also throughout India. What makes its endeavour special is that it not only encourages self-help groups, but also helps in training artisans and providing them with marketing support.
