HIS NAME is Aman Verma. His residence: Lokhandwala Complex. His tireless occupation: anchoring "Khulja Sim Sim" on Star Plus. But this actor, who aspires to rise on the film firmament, arrived at New Delhi's Punjabi Bagh Stadium, this past week, to meet all and sundry. The occasion was celebration of Grand Diwali Mela and the organisers, The Jain Club, tried their level best to portray Aman as hero even though he did a villainous role in the just released "Baghban".
Accompanied by a retinue of guards, this special guest thought it safe to interact with the audience from a high rising stage. He exhorted the younger generation to take care of their family members, especially siblings, with right earnestness. "Brothers should always take side of their sisters just like I did in a scene with Mandira in the soap opera "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi"." Aman was referring to his character of Anupam Kapadia.
But how close is Aman Verma to Anupam Kapadia? Not much, he said. However he expressed his willingness to break his bachelorhood. "There are so many bright faced girls here. I hope to get married to any one of them. Today I have completed 33 years. I am an old man now." Just then the announcer revealed that Aman shares not only his birthday with the Big Bachchan but also his histrionic talent. This made this reticent actor say, "Amitji is such a warm human being. He has been in the industry for so long. I play his boy, a very bad one though, in `Baghban'. Also in the pipeline is Ratan Jain's `Tum'. In this I am playing opposite Manisha Koirala."
Huffing and puffing he was hurriedly escorted in his gleaming black automobile. But hold your breath. This wasn't a visit by some high-profile politician then why such high cordoned security cover?
