Svelte Sonali's slimline offering

Sonali Bendre may be out of sight but she is not out of minds or hearts of cinegoers, finds SANJEEV CHOUDHARY

SHE IS witty and delightful, a brilliant and entertaining conversationalist. To use the name of her popular TV show, her presence makes the atmosphere full of "Kya Masti, Kya Dhoom". Yes, Sonali Bendre, she of sunshine smiles, some hits and plenty of flops was at the DLF City Center in Gurgaon for the inauguration of Domino's largest outlet, this past week.

The brand ambassador of Limca soft drink and Omega watches, films happened with Mani Ratnam's "Bombay" where she had a brief appearance in the famous item number `Humma Humma', which brought her to the notice of the audiences. But the actress had mix weal and woe, which started, with her debut film "Aag", opposite Govinda in 1994. "Diljale", "Major Saab", "Jodi No.1" and "Hum Saath Saath Hain" were some of her films to fair well at the box office but "Sarfarosh" will always have a special place in her heart. It was a huge success for her otherwise average film career and she got a lot of appreciation. "I have got more than what I expected," says the actress, who considers herself as a practical person, dressed in cargo pants and white Limca T-Shirt.

Limca, Domino's, Omega... Sonali Bendre has her hands full.

It was her boundless and endless energy performance in the TV serial "Kya Masti Kya Dhoom" featuring different stars on the show that made it a worth watching serial for the viewers. But for the time being there are no more TV serials for this actress who recently got married to director Goldie Bahl. As she puts, "I don't want to limit myself as an actress. TV serials are time consuming and it demands too much of time from you but for the time being I want to have a break for myself."

Sonali is eagerly waiting for response of Amol Palekar's forthcoming Marathi film "Anahat", which promises to establish her as an actress. "This is a period film which talks about the time of 10 Century and the story is based on female sexuality and the problems related to it. The film focuses on the problems, which existed then and persist now. It was a challenge doing this film," she explains. That maybe the case. For the moment though a fleeting appearance at Domino's will do just fine. Where 30 per cent of the first week proceeds from the sale of the thin crust pizzas will be donated to Child Relief and You (CRY).
