FabIndia's latest collection in white spells comfort and class. The show is on till September 14
AS THE Sun continues to burn bright on Chennai, FabIndia's White Collection exhibition could be the coolest thing to take a look at.
Known for its light and lovely cottons, FabIndia's special white range has lots for everyone men, women and kids.
There are long, short and super short kurtas in toned down shades (white, beige, natural and pastels) and with a neat finish. Golden Kadi prints from Baroda, Bodhulu checks of Andhra Pradesh, Tanka and Rajni (knotted pattern) from Muradabad, Mangalgiri, pintucks, and striking stripes on Khadi give the old-time kurtas an all-time stylish appeal. You can wear them just like that or look dressy at a do. Champa shirts from Uttar Pradesh complete the indigenous collection. The kurtas in silk for both men and women sans the usual shimmer seem to have a subdued feel about them.
Like fathers like sons a similar smart set of kurtas and shirts are there for your little boys too (from 2 years upwards). The range in cotton for both young and adults costs between Rs. 250 to 500.
In women's garments, the lines are absolutely simple, while the finish is flawless. The shades used are muted with pleasing small prints or little embroidery.
As for the dupattas, they are light-coloured and exotically textured (Jaipur, Mangalgiri, Chettinad, kota with zari etc.) and are bound to make a difference to any salwar suit. Mini, short and long kurtas, capris, skirts and tops comprise the women's range. Traditional motifs like sultan, maqbool, ambar, kadi, chikan and Mughal lend an authentic native look to the fabrics.
Want something stylish, yet wearable for your little girls? Choose from the neatly tailored salwar suits, wrap skirts and lehenga cholis.
The `White Collection' believes that looking good extends to the interiors of your home. The thematically created table linen, bed sheets, curtains, cushion covers can make your rooms look spacious and soothing.
