World cuisine on a platter

Mischief Dining Bar presents an International Sizzler Festival till September 7.

FINE DINING: The sizzler fest a tasty spread.

SIZZLERS are popular in various parts of the globe.

"They are well-liked in Mexico and they also form an essential part of the traditional Japanese Teppanyaki cuisine . Any food that is served on a hot plate is called a sizzler— even a dessert can be offered as a sizzler. Presentation is the other factor that makes a sizzler appealing— the arrangement of the various parts of the pre-plated meal, such as the vegetable or meat preparation, rice and salad. This is an exceptional sizzler festival since we are offering sizzler platters featuring world cuisine made using food items such as oysters and spices specially imported for the occasion, " says Pradip Rozario, corporate chef and partner, Mischief Dining Bar.

Aptly called the International Sizzler Festival, the feast offers flavours of the world on the platter. For instance, the Thai sizzler holds vegetables tossed in the popular green, red and yellow curries, served with steamed rice. While from the Mediterranean cuisine, the hot plate holds oven-baked fillet of fish with coconut crust tossed with cubed broccoli, green, yellow and red capsicum and lettuce in a dressing made with chopped basil and olive oil.

And if you thought Chinese cuisine was only stir-fried vegetables, rice and noodles, try out the Chinese sizzler— pan fried tofu steak with spicy black bean sauce served on a bed of noodles. Chef Pradip has lined up some fusion sizzlers such as Asian-style corn and mushroom with salsa.

"We have over 40 options in the sizzlers named after ingredients used and method of preparation, served with rice or roti as per the guests' choice. The menu is designed to suit the native palate and the foreign visitors since we do get a lot of foreigners here. BBQ vegetable patty with char-grilled corn is a mild option while Pollo asado— Mexican grilled chicken is piquant. Also, families can go for a jumbo sizzler platter," says Pradip.

The two-feet long jumbo sizzler comprising assorted helpings is surely a big bite. And if you are a steak freak, the tandoori sizzler platter is one to check out here.

And wait, the fest also offers sizzling desserts such as the Chocolate truffle cake with ice cream or the grilled banana flambé with ice cream.

Adding to the world cuisine experience is the retro remixes compilation stacked by DJ Amit and you can hear Rumours and George Michael while you dig into your hissing platter. The sizzler festival closes on September 7. You can reach Mischief Dining Bar, MPM Mall, Abids on Tel: 55250055/56.
