Touch of the unusual
"Mouse and Me", a unique collection of Ganeshas put together by The Heritage, is on show at C. P. Art Centre, Eldams Road, Alwarpet
Ganesha in a reclining pose, playing the veena, chatting with a friend, rowing a boat, blissfully swinging... . It's that time of the year when artists unleash their creativity to conjure up interesting forms of the Lord.
Check out the unique collection of Ganeshas showcased by The Heritage, at C. P. Art Centre, Eldams Road, Alwarpet. Titled "Mouse and Me", the exhibition reflects the varied facets of inventiveness of the artisans' evergreen delight - Ganesha. Priced Rs 35 onwards, the collection comes in terracotta, brass, copper and wood. What's interesting is of course, the use of colour. Jewel tones and aqua hues give the creations a touch of rarity. Some of the pieces have been imaginatively painted to give them a 3-D effect.
The wide choice in the terracotta range includes abstracts, mythical and innovative pieces. Take, for instance, the beautifully mounted Ganesha on the swing, which smacks of antiquity. The glass panels with terracotta Ganesha embellishments are yet another attraction. Hanging lamps in terracotta (unique ones in which the oil does not spill), tabletop pieces mounted on designer glass and beautifully framed Ganeshas come with attractive price tags.
Other items on display are acrylic abstracts with ethnic frames, Ganeshas mounted on raw silk, unusual forms of the Lord in brass and copper and hand crafted pieces in white wood.
The show is on till August 24. For details call 24346526/ 98400 70026.
