The Atrium Bar of Taj Residency now serves a variety of snacks, sizzlers and ice creams.
INVITING AMBIENCE: Atrium bar
WALKING into the Atrium Bar of Taj Residency will no longer be the same. Not in terms of ambience. But in terms of food.
For the bar is serving snacks and sizzlers. No longer would one have to go away after a few pegs and snacks.
"We wanted to provide a bar-cum-dining facility and not merely a pub. We want to create a place where families can come, chat, eat and drink because families do not generally go to pubs," says Sumeet Taneja, F & B Manager.
MEAL BY ITSELF: The sizzler and rolls.
Executive Chef Ganesh Joshi who has worked out the menu says "There is no exclusive restaurant in the city. Most of the sizzlers are offered at festivals in various hotels barring one or two where they may figure on the menu. So we decided on serving them. What we offer is value for money. One gets a sizzler with garlic bread for Rs. 125 plus taxes (veg) and Rs. 150 plus taxes for non-veg."
The bar offers sofas and high-rise chairs where one can make oneself comfortable.
Four television sets provide the required entertainment. These will particularly attract children (if parents agree to bring them).
An equal number of veg and non-veg snacks are offered.
They range from the exotic to the ordinary - a mix of South-East Asian and Indian like Sesame fried prawns, Drums of Heaven, Apollo Fish, Murg Lasooni, Crispy vegetables in Lai style, Shanghai roll, Babycorn salt and pepper, Harabhara kebab, Loose onion pakoras to name a few.
TIME TESTED RECIPE: Adapted to Hyderabadi palate.
The sizzling sound and the aroma wafting into the bar are enough to tempt anyone to taste the sizzlers.

A variety of sauces (in fact Chef adds that there is a `fusion' of sauces as well) served are garnished with different delicate herbs. Just four sizzlers are served in each category - veg and non-veg.
But they are wholesome as they come with assorted boiled vegetables (they vary according to the dish) and garlic bread.
There are a few add-ons to impart the zing - crushed chilli flakes, dried herbs like oregano, pepper and Parmesan cheese, which can be just sprinkled on if necessary.
The sizzlers include Cheese Bourchetta (cheese, capsicum, onion, tomato and mushrooms marinated and skewered), Vegetable Singapore (veg dumplings cooked with spring onions and red chillies in a tangy sauce), Cottage Cheese chasseure (cottage cheese in tomato sauce with mushrooms and gherkins), Chargrilled vegetables (topped with mustard flavoured sauce), Fish Napoli (in garlic flavoured tomato sauce), Chicken steak (with mushroom pepper sauce), Steak Diane (with mushroom sauce) and Captains mix grill (in pepper sauce with country style potatoes and poached egg).
End the meal with ice creams prepared by the chef. If you are in a mood to eat sizzlers, which seem ideal in this weather then head to Atrium Taj Residency.
