Epitome of grace
Mrs. K. M. Mathew is a unique personality. She epitomises grace and humility.
She spends hours experimenting with different ingredients before she finalises her recipes. Her interest does not stop with cookery. A prolific writer, she has written books on health and beauty. She has authored travelogues as well.
It was her leadership and foresight that made Vanitha the most popular women's magazine in India.
The Kasthurba Social Work Centre stands testimony to her efforts as a social worker. The Centre has become one of the leading social services centres in Kerala.
She is the best PRO for her husband and family. Her presence has become almost mandatory in the cookery classes conducted in different parts of the State. When she is not into "inventing" new dishes, she is busy inaugurating beauty saloons, flower shows and exhibitions. She also finds time for fund-raising activities.
Her day starts at 4 a.m. She practices music for an hour every day. Then she makes a list of all the activities she has to do for the day. She goes for her morning stroll to the church, where she spends some time in meditation and prayer.
Nowadays, she is unable to make the walk, owing to ill health. It is her faith in God and herself that has helped her face and fight her illness.
