Burning issues
WITH THE summer sun and dusty winds joining hands to wreak havoc on even the hardiest specimens of drying laundry, what chance does human skin stand? Patches, tanned skin, pimples - everything seems to get aggravated into a burning issue. So even the least make-up inclined amongst us tends to reach for the sunscreen lotion or moisturising cream. Making hay while the sun blazes are a number of companies that have come out with products that claim to counteract the harmful effects of the summer.
Hindustan Lever's Lifebuoy - the tried and trusted name known to every Indian that ever wanted to get rid of germs - has come out with Lifebuoy Active Gold, which claims to give protection from pimples. Priced at Rs.12 for a 100 gm. bar and 17 for a 150 gm. bar, the soap is said to contain milk and cream for a soothing effect.
Powder is a tempting option after a cooling shower, and the direct selling company Avon has introduced two new fragrances to its talc range. These are Iceberg, which comes in a 100 gm. pack and costs Rs.38, and Ozone, whose 300 gm. pack is priced at Rs.79. These products can be bought from "Avon beauty advisors". This one is apparently for those who crave white skin. Vichy Laboratoires' Bi-White range, comprises Cleansing Gel with kojic acid and vitamin C; Whitening Hydrating Fluid for hydration; Intensive Whitening Corrective Care for brown spots; and finally a sunscreen, UV Active Protection Care Fluid - recommended for use in that order. Vichy also has a Capital Soleil sunscreen range, which it claims gives better "Sun Protective Factor".
