Winning combination?

MAHESH BABU, son of the living legend Krishna, is the hot and happening actor in Telugu who has taken the youth audience by storm. Remember that his last film "Okkadu" released in January had grossed Rs. 25 crores! Now, Mahesh referred to as "the prince" by his fans, has been paired with Teja, the number one director in Telugu with "Nijam", which released last week.

Teja had made mega hits based on youth themes like "Chitram", "Nuvve Nenu" and last year's super hit "Jayam". And now the deadly combination of Mahesh and Teja has created a lot of hype and buzz around this film. Teja is cynical about commercial cinema and superstars and says that he has re-worked the stories of his earlier films and "Nijam" is old wine in a new bottle. He says: "It is the presentation, casting and the twist in the story that make a film run." There was a furore when Teja replaced actor Murali Mohan half way through the shoot with Prakash Raj in the film. Prakash plays the role of a CBI officer and his performance is said to be excellent. Teja is totally unconventional, which has created a fan base for his films. Recently when the income tax department sleuths raided his premises, he threw a big party for his friends saying that it was a big recognition to be raided! Teja who tries to project a "pauper' image says that "Nijam" will run on its own steam, and has distributed the film all over Andhra Pradesh himself. If "Nijam" becomes a hit, Mahesh Babu will become the new number one star at the Andhra box-office.
