Simi raves about Rahman

THAT MUSIC director A.R.Rahman has no equal in the world of popular music goes without saying. But this you've got to hear. On Simi Garewal's `Rendezvous', Rahman doesn't just talk about his veiled past; his fond memories of a dad who died young; his wife with whom he had an arranged marriage because "I didn't have the time to look for a wife", he tells Simi and also sings some of his favourite numbers. What's more, Simi, who's off to the Cannes film festival to represent Hindi cinema, sings `Don't Cry For Me Argentina' and the national anthem with Rahman. "It was one of the most memorable Rendezvous of my career," says Simi emotionally. "What a simple and unaffected man. And such humility in spite of his greatness."
