Songs, especially those of the devotional genre, are intended to create an ambience in which they turn meaningful. This is exactly what lyricist R. K. Damodaran and music director T. S. Radhakrishnan have attempted to do. More than penning lines in praise of the presiding deity of Guruvayoor this album tries to create an experience akin to what a devotee may come across when he stands before this famous temple. The songs go through the important festivals and events of this temple, with some very effective use of background score. The listener is transported through the golden voice of K.J Jesudas to Guruvayur and to that unique experience. However, the background track is so weak that some of the traditional instruments like the nagaswaram and ganjira are hardly audible. The opening track by Jesudas beginning `Pavanaguru... ' and `Vyshakam... ' sung by Vijay Jesudas are the pick of the ten songs.

What makes this album different is the rather raw, simple lyrics. They may not have the polish or finesse of those written by the professionals and might even have words that stumbles and breaks the flow of thought. Damodaran Namboodiri, the chief priest of the Vaikom temple took his time to jot down his thoughts. It was not done with a deadline and K.J. Jesudas, who has also composed the tunes, seems to have savoured the wait. These ten songs may not be the best of the devotionals but they are certainly not the run of the mill ones that you usually come across.
