Swimming the synchronised way

SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING is a sport combining strength, flexibility, aerobic conditioning and teamwork. There are four types of routines in synchronised swimming namely solo, duet, trio and team (up to eight swimmers). Even though routines are designed to appear effortless, it consists of strenuous swimming. Thus, the combination of skills, artistry, music and athleticism has made synchronised swimming popular with spectators.

The Indian Dolphins Synchro Club, based in the city has come up with a programme for school students to help them pursue their interest in swimming and interact with professional synchronised swimmers on May 23.

The public will also get an opportunity to witness synchronised swimming on May 24 and 25 at Velachery Aquatic Complex, Guindy, by a professional team based in Zurich.

Olga Sedakova an Olympian and coach of the Swiss team will train children in the age group of 8 to 12 from the first week of June at Shenoy Nagar swimming pool and at the Aquatic Complex.
