Subdued comeback

EMOTIONS RULE: Vijayshanti portrays a sentimental character.

Indiramma (TELUGU)

Cast: Vijayashanti,

Vijay Kumar

Mus: Vandemataram Srinivas

Dir: A. Madhava Sai

THE FILM is tailor-made for Vijayashanti. Unlike her earlier films where she was shown doing macho things, here she portrays a role with sentiment.

Indira (Vijayashanti) works as a security chief to Ananda Naidu (Vijay Kumar), a politician.

After his death, Indira brings up his children but they show no gratitude towards her when they grow up.

They even join her rivals and turn against her.

The story revolves round family-based feuds and Vijayashanti as a duty-bound policewoman, Indira, gets involved.

She has to deal with Ananda Naidu's step-brother Kesava Naidu (Sharad Saxena), who holds a grudge and eventually kills his brother.

The rivalry doesn't end there, their children carry it forward.

Basically a revenge drama, script writers Paruchuri Brothers repeat the subject in a different format though, as a safe bet for the producer and also for Vijayashanti.

As Indira, Vijayasanti looks quite subdued, rightly so, in the first half and shows herself in a contrasting action role in the latter part of the film.

Fight composer and editor take full credit for adding speed to her action.

Sharad Saxena and Jayaprakash Reddy stand out in their roles.

Music by Vandemataram is good only as a background score.
