INDIAN BABU

SaReGaMa, Rs.50

NADEEM-SHRAVAN'S music bank continues to churn out songs one does not mind listening to without actually being memorable. They are efficient here too with giving us a single track we would like to listen at the end of this year. "Indian Babu" has nine songs, out of which at least three songs have the trademark stamp of Nadeem-Shravan.

Kumar Sanu's "Dil Mera Dil" will find many takers. Little wonder it has been featured as the opening song on both the sides. Also noteworthy is Udit Narayan's "Rabba Rabba. Sameer's lyrics are par for the course. But K.K.'s "I Wanna Take You Higher" falls flat.

Buy this album only if you want to listen to Nadeem-Shravan's compositions the way they have been offering for well over a decade.

ROMANCE

SaReGaMa, Rs.40

THIS MOHAMMED Rafi Special is one of the breezier presentations from the house of RPG. It has a few songs you would lipped while quite young. And many you would begin to appreciate only now. It begins with a song from "Teesri Manzil". And bet you would have heard it many times over and would not mind an encore. R.D. Burman's "Deewana Mujhsa Nahin" still seems fresh, still lilting, still pleasant. The side also has another timeless song, "Yeh Reshmi Zulfe" from "Do Raaste". Well, if you don't have this number in your collection, something is missing. So make amends now but before that do see what is on offer on the obverse side.

This has some of the songs Rafi sang in the `70s. Among the better compositions is Usha Khanna's "Tu Is Tarah Se" from "Aap To Aese Na The". Also "Dard-e-Dil" from "Karz", the Rishi Kapoor-Tina Munim-starrer will be remembered fondly. Buy this cassette. At Rs.40 it is a steal.

ANDAAZ

Shri Krishna Audio, Rs. 50

THE VERY first song "Kissi Se Tum" gives you a feeling of listening to a blend of "Thoda Sa Pyar Hua Hai, Thoda Hai Baqi" and the music of "Raja Hindustani". Yet the mix is worth listeing to. Out of eight songs, four on either side, "Ishq Na Howe" is likely to pick up with the masses for Punjabi and Sufiana mix tunes. Nadeem-Shravan have tried to weave the magic of old times and are successful in patches. Out of the lot "Aaj Kahana" sung by Udit Naranayan and Alka Yagnic will take the lead. Other songs are just okay.

Hummable.
