Playing second fiddle

THE SAYING `patience and persistence pays' has proved true once again with the growing importance of actor Sriman in Tamil films. Sriman's father, Telugu producer Prakash Reddy, refused to launch his son in Telugu films a few year's back.

So with a burning desire to prove himself, he decided to do all the roles that came his way in Tamil. Sriman soon became the sidekick, buddy or the bad man in nearly 43 Tamil films before he was noticed in films like "Sethu" and "Panchathantiram".

Kamalhassan, taking note of his acting talent, has given him a big break in his home production "Nala Damayanthi" where he plays the role of an hotelier in Australia. Said Sriman: "Thanks to Kamal, I have now become very popular through "Panchathantiram" in Andhra Pradesh and the happy news for me is that my father has finally agreed to launch me as a full-fledged action hero in Telugu".
