Savour the flavour

With original names and innovatively cooked items, the ongoing food festival at Coastal Spice offers an interesting spread of delectable Hyderabadi fare, for connoisseurs and public alike.

FAMILY TIME: A festival for all.

IF YOU thought KBC without Big B would not be half as exciting, think again. In Coastal Spice (near Panjagutta) it is equally riveting, if not more.

The ongoing food festival at the restaurant, offers a delectable spread of Hyderabadi cuisine with a special emphasis on KBC (Kebab, Biryani and Curry). Relatively, the audience in the latter is more. (Eating does not require much intelligence.)

An irresistible assortment of 25 varieties of kebabs, 20 types of biryani and 28 different curries, the food mela got underway on December 27 and since then, Coastal Spice runs house full.

DIG IN: Twenty kinds of biryani are on offer.

Blame it on the taste or the original names, like kebab 2 K3 or pehalwan chicken biryani et al, for the swarm.

How much ever you consume, you'd be ever ready for a `give me more'.

"That goes without saying," quips in Coastal Spice director R. Radha Krishna Murthy - the brainchild of the KBC food fest.

"Good food is the theme of the festival," he says adding that the flavour and tang is the USP, apart from the innovative style of cooking.

LOCK KIYA JAAYE? The KBC festival is all about taste.

Like, kebab 2K3 - a speciality item, which is a chicken filler with stuffed chicken keema, stitched and put for marinating before it goes up the tandoor.

Later the thread is pulled out and the kebab is spread open, garnished and served - ready for consumption. Special biryani 2K3, is a chicken dum biryani, cooked on low simmer and topped with boneless chicken pieces and grated egg.

Other speciality items are ambada gosht biryani, jhinga biryani, fried peas and murg biryani, amongst others.

In the array of kebabs, the favourite one's are, karela murg kebab, fish pahadi, sammdari sheekh kebab, tandoori crab, kalmi kebab and chicken hariyali kebab. Amongst curries are, lal mirchi ka machchi, pepper mutton curry, nalli ka kurma, Nizami murg hundi, murg bharta, adrak jhinga, and ambada murg.

Veggies can take their pick from, mushroom tikka, makhai sheekh kebab, paneer dawat, baby corn biryani, fresh peas pulao, aloo biryani and adrak veg biryani.

An assortment of vegetarian curries is also on the menu, which include, veg. Diwani hundi, anmol rattan, paneer subji rogan josh, paneer pasanda, and nilgiri veg, amongst an endless list of other such piquant and tantalising fares.

With the mercury showing a dip, how about a spicy indulgence at Coastal Spice with family and friends to warm up the evening.
