Smitten by the screen
Zayed Khan, the son of Sanjay Khan, is the latest star son on the bloc. He is all set to enter Bollywood with `Chura Liya Hai Tumne'.
MAKING A MARK: Zayed Khan in `Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne.'.
HE HAS the looks, and the talent. He belongs to one of the first families of Bollywood. And yet, Zayed Khan (son of Sanjay Khan) is not one of the star kids taking a gamble at the turnstiles. His approach to the art is pragmatic and down-to-earth.
He is aware of his limitations, his strengths and weaknesses. This Khan kid is all set to make his Bollywood debut with Pantaloons' Chura Liya Hai Tumne (CLHT).
Though he did not always aim at being an actor , Zayed confesses that, "In my hearts of hearts I always knew that I would ultimately end up being one.''
Philosophically he adds, "I went through my life not looking for answers or trying to search for answers. As I went through life, it was strange that certain questions that I wanted to be answered were answered in the uncanniest of ways. Yes, I studied subjects at college level that had nothing to do with acting. But consciously or unconsciously, I was rounding myself to become one in a very concrete wholehearted way.''
Zayed studied films in United States and describes it as `one helluva experience'. It was a course that taught him to see the person within irrespective of external differences and to understand human psyche.
The comprehensive course taught him everything from editing to sound to lighting to direction to action.
Working in film school, he learnt that filmmaking is essentially teamwork. Zayed specialised in acting and direction. With Chura Liya Hai Tumne, Zayed is set to make an impression.
His character in his debut movie is one of a smart lad who is extremely witty and knows how to play upon people's insecurities - the kind you just bump into a real life.
"It is with subtle nuances that I have handled the scenes. I haven't gone overboard,'' he says.
Besides, he has Farah Khan's Main Hoo Na alongside Shah Rukh Khan in his kitty too. Sangeet Sivan his first director (of CLHT) adds, "what's most important to me is he fills up the screen when he walks into it.
His ability to transform in front of the camera always surprises me. Sincere performer, competent dancer, great team player Zayed is a perfect package deal any director could wish for.''
A mature studied approach coupled with a deep understanding of life and its intricacies and determination is what makes Zayed Khan a man to look out for. Make way for the latest Khan to hit the marquee.
