Basking in the Sun

IN THE BEGINNING: `The Journey of Man' on NGC.

THE INDIAN Television Academy awards may be only two years old, but they have fast acquired the reputation of being the most prestigious awards in the business. This year's event at the Renaissance Resort in Powai, Mumbai on November 30 brought together a glittering galaxy of showbiz stars beginning with ministers Shatrughan Sinha and Vinod Khanna, who were the Chief Guests, besides Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty and stars from the south like Kamal Hasan, Chiranjeevi, Nagma, Amrish, Raadhika, Revathi, Sarath Kumar, Rajkumar, Nagarjuna, Hema Malini and Jaya Pradha.

Sun TV has particular cause for preening this year - out of 80,000 people polled in the South, 78,000 cast their vote for a Sun network channel in the No. 1 spot. This means that Sun is hitting the right notes with Gemini, Surya and Udaya, apart from its own formidable strength.

Hot tips: Watch Tusshar Kapoor's twinkle toes act on Boogie Woogie on December 4. The Miss World pageant unfolds on December 7 on Star World at 19.30. The Journey of Man on the National Geographic channel tells the story of the human race all through December. Each episode is fascinating.

Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar gives you a chance to jive to R. D. Burman on Zee Cinema, 5 p.m. December 8.
