Home haleem

How does one make haleem at home?

Richard Thaniyath, Borabanda

TO MAKE haleem at home one can use oats instead of broken wheat to shorten the cooking time. Mix together boneless pieces of mutton, green cardamom, brown onions, green chillies, cinnamon and black pepper. Soak the oats in milk for an hour. Mix the meat and oats and continue to cook stirring constantly. In case the mutton pieces are big, use a grinder or mixie to grind mutton into a finer paste. To serve mix brown onions, freshly chopped mint and ghee with lots of lemon juice.
