Every woman's desire
Elegant drapes that make you feel special
TAMANNA'S LOGO reads: "A Woman's Desire", and this is one store that surely knows how to trigger off one's passion for clothes with its unique and vast designer collection.
When you pass by its beautifully done up window, off Commercial Street, you think it is just another silk and saree shop. But step inside and you will see that each piece is tailored to perfection.
Dhanu Pandya, proprietor of the boutique, says that Tamanna's products have different cuts, styling, embroidery, and fabrics, "to give you something out of the ordinary".
Tamanna, which used to have a lot of ghagra-cholis earlier, now has plenty of designer saris, salwar suits, and indo-western outfits, designed by its in-house designers.
While most boutiques sell silks, Tamanna focuses on crepes and georgettes as they "fall well" and are popular with the youth.
It also promotes new imported fabric and some of the crepes are treated to have a different texture and are heavily embroidered. These are used to make wedding lehangas and designer saris.
The eveningwear, which includes salwar suits, is priced at Rs. 4,000 upwards, while heavy saris start at Rs. 9,000.
Tamanna also has a range of office wear that is priced Rs. 1,500 upwards. Ms. Pandya assures us that these patterns are "in style, and the fabric will not crease even after a day's wear."
Some of the styles in its designer wear are unmatched with a unique combination of colours. "These days, sequins are in fashion, and with many hues available in sequins, we can afford to have bright colours and combinations," says Ms. Pandya. So, if you are looking for something in bright hues, Tamanna should be your destination.
Pastel shades, silver embroidery, and powder colours are out. Today, bright colours such as rani pink, Turk blue, fire red, canary yellow and so on, with sequins, long tassles, stones, scarves in indo-western outfits, etc. is in, she says.
Tamanna believes in providing special service to its customers.
And a customer can pick up the matching accessories such as a blouse, petticoat, or a duppatta.
Ms. Pandya tells us that the latest trend in the fashion world is to be attired in the "Devdas" type of saris with bootas and heavy borders. Even the blouses have puffed sleeves.
It is trendy to wear short tops, bootleg pants, shararas, and ghagras with fish cuts, mermaid styles. In embroidery, crystals, antique works, minakari, copper finish, kundan, dull gold, is in, while zardosi work and shiny gold is out.
Tamanna also undertakes wedding and formal wear orders. It takes a week to 15 days to complete an order.
