Chords & Notes

Is Duniya ke Gham... Venus... Rs. 40

THIS IS a feel-good album featuring soft lyrics and some good music, and especially a collectible for the Nusrat Fateh Ali fans.

The title track by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Khan is soulful. The album features folk rhythm such as Laga dheere dheere gham by Reshma. Another number one could look out for is the classic Dama Dam Mast rendered by Tehsin Javed. The traditional song is presented with a synthesis of rock and popular elements with the essential Sufi essence in the song. An artist to look out for is Shazia Manzoor who has done incredible classical intonation at the Teri ankhon ne loota chaina. Meri sanson mein is a refreshing ghazal rendition by Mehnaaz and Nayyar with music composed by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Nayyar does a good job at a soothing track Hansti rahen.

The highlight of the album is the one track from Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali, Tanhayee, which brings out a harmony from chaos, featuring music by Anand-Milind and lyrics by Javed Akhtar.

Chillout Lounge Volume Two... Virgin... Rs. 150

CHILLOUT LOUNGE Volume Two promises to take you into the realm of imagination and reflection. Starting with what promises to be the rewarding experience, Every day there's something by The Relaxomatic Project-a R&B with a pinch of jazz, the album flows along with lilting tracks as At the river by Groove Armada. For the fans of Depeche Mode, there is masterpiece Freelove. Trouble by Coldplay is one track to look out for on Side A. Weather Storm by Massive Attack is yet another track to relax on (on Side A) with its enigmatic appeal.

Side B opens with a soothing Sonnet by The Verve, followed by We haven't turned around from Gomez and Tender by Blur. Fade into you is a soulful offering from Mazzy Star.
