The RP magic

"Dilli nunchi galli daaka unnarandi girlfriendsu... ".

Music director and singer R.P. Patnaik may not have so many girl friends but he certainly has a huge fan following, which was evident from the mammoth crowd, which turned up at the Ramakrishna Beach to witness the RP's mega musical nite recently.

Film director Teja, RP and lyricist Kulasekhar, whose combination has produced about a dozen hit films, and stars from their films regaled the fans which went into raptures as RP belted out the songs, "Manasantha nuvve... ", "Priyathama, O Priyathama... " and "Nagundelo nivundipova... ", to name a few during the four-hour show.

The fans perched themselves on the terraces of the apartments adjoining the Beach Road and gathered at vantage points at the Kali temple, Siva temple and at Matsya Darshini aquarium to catch a glimpse of the stars from tinsel world. Hero Uday Kiran of `Chitram' and `Nuvvu Nenu' fame stole the hearts of his fans with his dance.

Hero and heroine of `Jayam', Nitin and Sada, and actors Gopichand and Alibaba impressed the gathering with their histrionics.

The one lakh-watt sound enabled the music lovers in listening to their favourite numbers even from a distance. However, the picture quality, on the screens erected at some distance away from the stage, was very poor.

The youth who could not go near the stage due to the rush were seen dancing in gay abandon, at a long distance away from the stage, to RP's Oriya number "Rango bothi, Rango bothi".

Comedian Alibaba's pranks with small screen anchor, Uday Bhanu, on stage drew cheers from the crowd.
