The friends formula

THE YOUNG friends formula seems to have caught on with "Dil Chahta Hai" and "Filhaal". Music channel MTV has ventured into films with "Bas Yun Hi", produced by Bandra West Productions. It's a romantic comedy about a group of friends and 10 days in their lives.

The film, starring Nandita Das, Purab Kohli and Rajeev Gopalakrishnan, is slated for an October release. The film has been directed by ad-filmmaker Raja Menon. Meanwhile, MTV has also been bitten by the reality show bug with its launch of "The Osbournes", the real life drama of America's favourite rock-n-roll family, on Saturdays at 11 p.m.

Featuring Ozzy, Sharon, Jack, Kelly, the dogs, the cats, the assistants, the band, the roadies, the security guards, the neighbours, Melinda, the nanny, and the rest, the reality show is all about "Ozzy, the star who bit the heads of bats and relieved himself on stage in front of his fans, doing the 'drug' talk with his young son, lecturing his teenage daughter on 'sex', watching TV and walking his dog. The transition from a 'notorious' rock star to apple-pie-and-ice cream dad and husband makes for fascinating and highly addictive TV viewing," said Natasha Malhotra of MTV India.
