Swiss specialities

Mouth-watering ice creams in several flavours, coffee mocktails and desserts... there's plenty to choose from at Movenpick of Switzerland.

CHINESE CUISINE served in Chettinad style is nothing new to Chennai-ites, so why not try it with ice creams too? Movenpick of Switzerland opened its first ice cream and coffee boutique in Chennai recently.

Perfect place and time to launch an ice cream and coffee boutique. Movenpick claims to have the internationally renowned Swiss premium ice creams and an array of speciality coffee and desserts, served in a modern ambience.

Located in a bustling area in Nungambakkam (No. 33, Shafee Mohammed Road, ph: 8295925) , this would be the apt choice for executives to relax after a day's hard work.

"We wanted to offer Chennai-ites the same quality of ice cream as produced in Switzerland. So we have set up a chain, where ice creams are imported through our cold storage system, which operates at - 25 Celsius as compared to other storage systems that store it at - 18 Celsius. That makes our ice creams 100 per cent natural," says Neeraj Jain, General Manager, South Asia.

At Rs. 40 a scoop, Movenpick has mouth-watering flavours... banana-passion fruit, pistache-pistachio, strawberry-vanilla, caramelita-caramel, maple-walnut, cappuccino sticks, strawberry yoghurt sticks, the regular vanilla-vanilla and other assorted varieties.

There is a variety to choose from for coffee lovers too. Movenpick café offers eight blends. "Seemingly, the coffee pub culture has caught up in Chennai now. Cafes have become more of a hang-out place. So why not take advantage of it and educate people about the second largest drink (next only to water)," claims Neeraj. Movenpick has introduced coffee mocktails like Moccaccino, Mint Mocha and Cappuccino topped with whipped cream, nuts and flavoured syrups.

While your coffee or ice cream is getting ready, you could listen to your favourite numbers. The electronic jukebox, first of its kind in Chennai, plays your favourite numbers with just a touch of the screen. If you like to read books while relaxing, there's a small library inside the café. Well, not inspired by the jukebox, not interested in books, feel like watching some games, never mind, there is a TV provision for the sports lovers too.

The diverse style of seating — the contemporary café style tables and chairs, an elevated low seating area with an Oriental style seating and lounge couch and sofas in the library create the right ambience.

Apart from desserts, Movenpick also offers pies, cakes and pastries. The most interesting part of the cafe is the Movenpick bag. Priced Rs. 130 and the ice pack costing around Rs.55, the bag works as an insulator and prevents the ice creams from melting for two hours. This comes in handy when planning a short trip or at least to maintain the temperature of the ice creams till you take it home.

Isn't it time you started exploring the new delicacies?
