GULIKA or Mandi plays a vital role in fixing the Lagna in a horoscope, and in finding Maraka periods. Ancient texts do not say much about Gulika.

The position of Mandi is ascertained according to dicta given in some texts as applicable to daytime and night time births. He is not a benefic planet, and can have an adverse effect on marital prospects.

But these prospects must be reckoned over-all in the light of all relevant factors in a horoscope. Snap conclusions can prove dangerous.
