Making an impression
`Impressionist' in real life... Hari Kunzru.
WHEN news of a huge advance for his first book filtered out, Hari Kunzru was already the darling of the media. He might be home grown fare in England, but given his mixed parentage English mother and Kashmiri father Kunzru was touted as a new boy wonder that the western literary world had been waiting for years. Kunzru was in town recently, for the launch of his book `The Impressionist'. A strong streak of everyday sensibility pervades his conversations, as he explains why it was important to him to question the idea of race and culture. He said he had grown up in a surprisingly stable household, and perhaps that was the reason he could sit back and analyse all. More than ever he plans to continue writing. On what, he doesn't say.
