Energy within

THE highlight of March is the advent of the Spring Equinox on March 20, at 19:17 GMT. The position of the planets on the day of the seasonal change significantly impacts the nature of the season to come. It also is important to contemplate the significance of the Spring Equinox to gain the greatest benefits from this quarterly transition.

On the day of the Spring Equinox, the Sun enters Aries and the 12-month journey through the 12 constellations of the zodiac begins. The Equinox also represents an astrophysical phenomenon in that the Sun appears to be crossing the equator from the perspective of Earth at the moment of the Spring Equinox.

The Sun's apparent passage across the Earth's equator represents a balancing point in the consciousness of humanity. It is a time to reassess the past and re-evaluate the future. You are naturally drawn to create balance between the past and the future at the time of any equinox, be it in the spring or fall.

Significantly, the angle of the Sun also changes at the moment of every equinox and solstice. It is a law of physics that light becomes more powerful when it bends. Thus, the light of the Sun has an even more powerful affect on your consciousness at the time of the change of season. The light of the Sun also energises your thoughts, which is why your thoughts can be so different at night and then in the light of day — and why they are so important as we now approach the Spring Equinox.

During the daylight hours, between now and the Equinox, write down the directions you would like to take during the next three-month season. Cover every subject from the mundane to the sacred. Just prior to the Spring Equinox, or even the day before, read your life goals three times aloud. Then pray that the emerging light of the Sun will energise your positive intentions. Watch your positive thoughts manifest in the season to come.

The Spring Equinox of 2002 will be strongly influenced by the motion of Pluto, the planet of hidden energies, which turns retrograde little more than three hours before the Equinox. Pluto's retrograde motion will bring it into direct opposition with Saturn, the planet of form, structure and karma, later in the spring, on May 26. The opposition of Saturn and Pluto occurs every 35 years in groups of three. The opposition in May is the third of the latest group of three, which initially came into alignment in August 2001 and then in November 2001. The group of three oppositions will culminate on May 26, 2002.

The coincidence of the Spring Equinox with the retrograde of Pluto will heighten your awareness of all phenomena that are hidden under the surface. Pluto is notorious for bringing to the surface those things that have been previously obscured, but which are nonetheless quite real. Saturn, on the other hand, prompts members of society to deal with, systematise or even try to squash those forces that have been unleashed under the Saturn-Pluto opposition.

If previously hidden forces in your psyche erupt into consciousness in the spring season, this is the time to use the energy of Saturn to bring order to chaos. In fact, use the light of the Spring Equinox Sun to pray that any important hidden energies within your consciousness be brought to your attention. Then, ask that you be given the wisdom and the strength to bring order to these newly exposed energies so you may derive the greatest benefit from these newfound energetic resources within yourself.
