Defying the ban

Prithviraj

THE ACTOR Prithviraj proved that not only could he face the arc lights, but tell the press one or two points quite convincingly. At the press conference announcing his decision to join Vinayan's new film, he was precise and clear.

Understandably he did not want to sound offensive towards the senior stars heading the AMMA. Yet, Mr. Prithviraj did not mince words while responding to the possibilities of the AMMA's `ban' orders against any actors, including himself for violating its diktats. Taking over from Mr. Vinayan suddenly, he declared that he was totally against any such `ban.' The obvious reference was to the past, when his father, the late actor Sukumaran's career had suffered under the refusal of a certain actor to work in the films with him.

`If the feelings of Prithviraj Sukumaran who was a Sixth standard student at that time were hurt by it then, the 21-year-old Prithviraj of today also feels much in the same way,' declared the actor, with apparent emotion.

The `pressure tactics,' said to be employed by the AMMA for keeping the youngsters under control seems to be losing effect, with more young actors poised for starting work in the coming days. Sibi Malayil's new film starring Kunchako Boban is also to be announced formally in a few days.
