LIC Housing to mobilise funds through NCDs, term loans

Chennai (PTI): LIC Housing Finance would mobilise funds through Non Convertible Debentures and term loans to disburse loans worth around Rs 15,000 crore this year, a top official of the bank said here on Friday.

"The liquidity is good and this year we want to raise Rs 15,000 crore. Already Rs 6,000 crore has been raised", LIC Housing Finance Director and Chief Executive R R Nair told reporters here.

The company had disbursed Rs 8,000 crore loans last year.

"I believe it (reaching the target) will not be a difficult task," he said after inaugurating a property fair.

He said the company would not opt for External Commercial Borrowings as there was adequate liquidity.

Mr. Nair said the recession has not had much of an impact on total disbursement of loans and the company was growing at 22 per cent on a year-on-year basis.

On the net NPAs, Mr. Nair hoped it would be below one per cent this year. "Last year it was 1.07 per cent and this year we hope it will reach below one per cent".

The company's loan book size was at Rs 35,000 crore,he said and the company was expecting Rs 600 crore worth of business to be generated this year at the fair, the same as in the previous edition.

Around 32 builders are participating in the three day fair, he added.
