Tata Motors launches Jaguar XJ in London

New Delhi (PTI): Tata-owned Jaguar has unveiled its luxury car Sedan XJ in both petrol and diesel versions in London, priced at 52,500 pounds (over Rs 41 lakh).

"These are truly exciting times for us at Jaguar. The new XJ is truly beautiful, exhilarating to drive, and with its bold, enlightened approach to design, it meets the challenges of our fast-changing world. It re-imagines the ultimate sporting luxury car," Jaguar Cars Managing Director Mike O'Driscoll said in a statement.

The car is the first from the luxury brand to feature Jaguar's next-generation aerospace-inspired aluminium body architecture.

The model was showcased in the presence of a well known chat show host Jay Leno.

All of Jaguar's Gen III petrol and diesel engines will be available in the Sedan XJ.

Tata Motors acquired the British luxury brands Jaguar and Land Rover from the American auto maker Ford for USD 2.3 billion in 2008.

Last month, the Tatas launched Jaguar and Land Rover in India.
