Chandigarh (PTI): Car maker Honda Siel Cars India on Sunday announced the launch of its premium eighth generation Honda Accord here, priced at Rs 16.52 lakhs.

New Accord will be available in three types in both automatic and manual transmission - Accord 2.4, Accord 2.4 Elegance and Accord 2.4 Inspire, a company official said here on Saturday during the launch.

Fitted with 2.4 litre i-VTEC engine, the overall length and width of the car has been increased by 80 mm and 25 mm respectively, he said.

The new model comes with five speed manual transmission and five speed automatic transmission with paddle shift.

For the safety of the passengers, the new car is equipped with six airbags, Advanced Compatibility Engineering and G-Force Control Technology for enhanced safety of the vehicles occupants during a collision, he said.

Stating that North India is the largest market for Honda, he said, company's growth in North India stood at 7 per cent in 2007-08 and the market share in premium car is now 35.6 per cent.
