Karthik removed from AIFB President's post

Madurai (PTI): The All-India Forward Bloc (AIFB) has removed its Tamil Nadu unit President, M Karthik, from the post for 'not guiding the party in the right direction. The decision to remove the Tamil actor from the post was taken at a special convention held here late last night, AIFB all India General Secretary Biswas said in a press release here on Sunday.

The convention also constituted an ad hoc committee to administer the party in the state for next three months till a new President was appointed, Biswas said.

He said: "Karthik is not in any party post since Saturday. However, he can appeal to the party central committee against the removal."

Citing reasons for the actor's removal from the party, Biswas said: "the party Central Secretariat had convened a meeting in New Delhi in November last year and Karthik was asked to start a working committee in Tamil Nadu. However, even after five months, he failed to form the committee. Even party members were unable to contact him during the period and this has run down the image of the party in the state," the release said.

"Party functionaries also expressed their dissatisfaction over the appointment of Karthik as state President," Biswas said.

Meanwhile, Karthik's supporters said that the actor at a meeting here on Saturday night declared that that 'he will neither float a new party nor leave the party'.
