Prince Harry's girlfriend 'refuses' armed protection

London (PTI): Prince Harry's girlfriend Chelsy Davy has refused 24-hour armed protection as she wants to be a "normal student". The 23-year-old Prince wanted the Zimbabwean-born blonde to be given round-the-clock armed guards fearing that she could be in danger after he spent nearly ten weeks with the British troops fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan.

But Davy (22) has turned down the chance to have her own private minders -- she does not want to ruin her student life in Leeds, where she is studying for a postgraduate law degree, the 'Daily Star' reported on Friday.

"She (Davy) loves being a student and wants to live a normal life. She knows her parents are really worried but she is a sensible girl. She knows it's not ideal but she isn't going to let any nutters spoil her fun," one of her friends was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

Al-Qaeda-affiliated websites has called on jihadists to "slaughter" Prince Harry after he returned from war-ravaged Afghanistan earlier this year. And the third-in-line to the British throne is worried that Chelsy, who stays in a terrace just down the road from the home of three of the 7/7 London suicide bombers, may be vulnerable. "Chelsy has become royalty by association and therefore is a big target," said a security source.
