Mumbai (PTI): The All India Cabin Crew Association (AICCA), has asked the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to constitute an expert committee to study the issue of revising Flight Time Duty Limitations (FDTL) for cabin crew in the country.

The Association has also urged the regulatory body to put on hold the entire exercise of revising the FDTL till the proposed committee decides on the issue.

The association's request has come in the wake of the DGCA's proposed new civil aviation requirements (CARs) on the FDTL. The DGCA had recently circulated draft CARs to all stakeholders, inviting their suggestions on the issue.

"We request you to put on hold the process of revising the Flight Duty Time Limitations and to constitute an expert committee comprising aviation experts, medical health professionals (including oncologists, radiologists and psychiatrists) and epidemiologists to examine the entire issue," the AICCA stated in its suggestions submitted to the DGCA.

The association has said the DGCA should take into account international practices, research and studies and also examine the unique position of sub-continental cabin crew prior to implementing the proposed CARs.

This Committee should also give full opportunity to all concerned to make submissions before it, the AICCA said.

The AICCA claims to represent over 1,340 cabin crew in Air India alone and almost 800 cabin crew in the erstwhile Indian Airlines, making it the single largest cabin crew organisation in the country.
