Five killed during West Bengal poll
Kolkata (PTI) Five persons were killed in clashes between activists of rival political parties during the third and final phase of the panchayat elections in West Bengal Sunday.
Three Congress and two CPI(M) supporters were killed in separate incidents in Murshidabad district, police said.
Of the deaths, four were reported from Domkol in the district, Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), West Bengal Raj Kanojia told PTI.
In Murshidabad, district magistrate Subhir Bhadra said Bhupati Mondal, a Congress supporter, was killed after he was fired on allegedly by CPI(M) workers after altercations at a polling booth at Majherdeher village.
