BJP demands reopening of Poonch-Uri road via Hajipir

Jammu (PTI): Jammu and Kashmir BJP on Saturday demanded the government take steps to reopen the Pooch-Uri road via Hajipir, which is in Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir.

"If government can go in for reopening Uri-Muzaffarabad road and Poonch-Rawalakot road then why can't it ask Pakistan to reopen Poonch-Uri road," vice president and spokesperson Hari Om said in a statement here.

The Poonch-Uri road is an all weather road and therefore the Centre should ask the neighbouring country to reopen this road through Hajipir for the benefit of the people, the statement said.

The BJP leader also branded the Mughal road as "seasonal" and suggested the government be given the status of a "tourist spot" as it would be covered under snow for half the year.
