Advani asks voters to teach JDS a lesson
Bijapur-Bidar (PTI): Ahead of third phase of assembly elections in Karnataka scheduled for May 22, BJP leader L K Advani on Saturday asked the voters to "teach a lesson" to its former coalition partner JDS saying that its 'acts of betrayal' forced the mid-term polls on the state.
Addressing an election rally at Bijapur, he flayed JDS for withdrawing support to the BJP-led government by reneging on its promise to extend unconditional support. He claimed that there was a good response to BJP from people of the state in the election and exuded optimism of the party coming to power after the polls.
Advani challenged the Congress to announce its Chief Ministerial candidate and added it cannot be expected from that party, which has so many aspirants.
The BJP has named B S Yeddyurappa as its Chief Ministerial candidate.
At a rally he addressed in Bidar he devoted much of his time in attacking JDS for "betraying" BJP on power transfer issue.
Advani outlined the NDA government's achievements under A B Vajpayee. He referred to the "rise" in terror activities and alleged that the UPA regime had failed to check it.
