Indian economy resilient, growth to continue: SL banker

Mumbai (PTI): India's economic growth story will continue at a fast pace as it has the resilience to overcome the challenges emanating from both domestic and international developments, including spiraling inflation, a senior Sri Lankan central banker said.

"The Indian economy is poised to grow very fast... I think its economy is resilient...on the policy front, there are a couple of challenges...but the policy makers, particularly the Reserve Bank and Government will be able to take care of these challenges," Central Bank of Sri Lanka's Deputy Governor Ranee Jayamaha told PTI, on the sidelines of an Indian Banks' Association summit here.

His comments came shortly after India's headline inflation touched a four-year high of 7.83 per cent for the week ended May 3, fuelled mainly by surging food and oil prices internationally.
