The 23rd Panchamuga Anjaneyar Jayanthi organised by Sri Panchamuga Dwathasabuja Anjaneyar Festival Committee, begins on January 8, at P.K. Mahal, Chitra Kulam South Street, Mylapore, when the presiding deity will be brought to the Mahal in a processi
on followed by Sri Sudarsana Homam. M.S. Sundararajan, chairman, Indian Bank, inaugurates the festival that evening at 6.30 p.m. T.N. Krishnan presides. On the occasion, vocalists K.R. Saranathan and Tiruvarur N.Balam, will be conferred the title, ‘Swararaga Sarangyar,’ ghatam vidwan E.M. Subramaniam will be honoured with ‘Laya Vadya Sironmani’ and T.V. Varadharajen will receive ‘Nataka Kala Bhushanam.’ K. Srinivasa Raghavan, station director, All India Radio, felicitates. The event will be followed by T.N. Krishnan’s violin recital.
