Nataka Academy and Priya Vision will honour actor ‘Gemini’ Mahalingam with the title, ‘Nataka Ratna,’ on December 21, 6.45 p.m., at P.S. Dakshinamurthy Auditorium, Chennai. The event will be presided over by Cho. ‘Gemini’ Mahalingam was drawn to theatre when he was just 16, and went on to act in 2500 plays and more than 60 films, besides television serials. A ‘Kalaimamani’ awardee, Mahalingam has acted on the stage in Sri Lanka, Singapore and Malaysia. The event includes the presentation of ‘Kalaithoodhan Award’to London-based vocalist Sarojini Sundaresan.

Carnatic vidwan P.S.Narayanaswami released the album, titled ‘Makarandam,’ and violin exponent R.Ganesh received it. The 65th anniversary of Tamizh Isai Sangam will be celebrated on December 21 (today), 6 p.m., at Raja Annamalai Mandram, Chennai. Santhalinga Ramasamy Adigalar will preside. The title of ‘Isai Paerarignar’ will be conferred on ‘Thevaram’ T. Natarajan and a purse for Rs.10,000 will be presented to him. Raja Sir.
