Sabari Girish
‘Swarajhari’ of Vijayawada introduced a new and meritorious singer to the city. A. Sabari Girish, a post-graduate of S.V. University, Tirupati is working as a Vocal lecturer in S.V. Music College. His style of singing is reminiscent of Late Chittoor Subramanyam Pillai. He did his advanced study from K.R. Rajeswari. Girish is also an asthana vidwan of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. With instrumental support coming from B.V. Durga Bhavani on violin and M.L.N. Raju on mridangam, Sabarigirish got off to an absorbing start with a crisp rendering of Kanada Atatala varnam and sang several apoorva keertanas in his concert. Some of them were Ikanaina mora vinarada in Pushpalatika, Devadi Deva in Sindhuramakriya and Sree Kalahastiswara in Husseni.
Endowed with a rich and appealing voice Sabari Girish sang in pure traditional style without resorting to any kind of gimmicks. It was pleasant music all the way. He did full justice to the main item Tanayuni Brova in Bhairavi adorning it with sumptuous raga delineation and attractive kalpana swaras. Violinist B.V. Durga Bhavani gave the singer faithful following and presented neat versions of Kedaragowla and Bhairavi. At the end of the main item M.L.N. Raju played an exciting tani on the mridangam. Girish closed the concert with an Annamayya keertana in Dhanyasi and the Sadasiva Bramhendra keertana Bruhi Mukundeti in Kuranji.
