The National Art & Crafts Fair, inaugurated on June 14, will be on till June 24, 9.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. Organised by Jaipur Textiles, at C.P. Art Centre, Alwarpet, (Ph: 99404 22426), the art and craft products of 75 poor but extremely skilled art
isans from various States are on display. The artisans, who are at the venue, are selling their ware directly to the customer. An amazing array of heritage collections, traditional and contemporary handicrafts and handlooms mark the exhibition cum sale.
Saris, dress material, appliquéd umbrellas, lampshades and door garlands, paintings and wall hangings are some of the items from Orissa.
Rajasthan’s ghagra cholis and bedspreads, kurtas, pyjamas and stone jewellery from Jaipur, one-gram gold jewellery, bangles, terracotta from Kolkata, Chennapatnam toys, Sahranpur wood pieces, sandstone icons from Konark and lacquer bangles from Cuttack comprise some of the products at the fair. Also pure silk saris with Bomkai, double ikkat from Sambalpur, mirror, phulkara, jal and jehera embroidery and much more come at affordable prices.
A special 10 per cent discount on handicrafts and 20 per cent on handlooms are an added lure.
