Opening on a fresh note -- Ninaithaley

Pruning would have helped: Ninaithaley

Ninaithaley

Genre: Romance
Cast: Suchin, Nargis, Krishnan
Director: Viswas Sundar
Storyline: Boy meets girl on her wedding day and falls in love with her. Bottomline: A love tale with a difference.

Viswas Films’ ‘Ninaithaley’ (U) has youthfulness, enjoyable music, an emoting hero and slick editing but the director must have pruned certain portions and made it interesting. The film is a remake of the Telugu hit ‘Anand.’

Hero Anand (Suchin) meets heroine Roopa (Nargis) on her wedding day. Because of the unruly behaviour of the bridegroom’s mother, Roopa stops the marriage. Anand likes her attitude and also her argument. He decides to marry her. First he gets a place in her house as a tenant and then tries to win her heart. In spite of a hit film director Viswas Sundar has changed certain portions here and there and it has certainly helped the narration. But the debut work certainly loses its tempo in certain parts before the intermission and also before the climax. This happens mainly because of the inexperience of the director. He has also not worked much in choosing the right artistes for the role. Particularly Nargis, who looks older than the hero.

Suchin is apt in the role of the millionaire lover boy. The son of veteran actor Vyjayanthimala Bali he shows much promise in emoting some of the difficult scenes in the story and is also charming in the dance and romantic scenes.

Long way to go

Nargis must learn the basics of acting and must also know how to look presentable with make-up. Krishna as Narayanan, the friend of the hero does his part well and so do the mother (Sivaranjani) and father (Velu Prabhakaran) of the hero.

Three songs, particularly the song where some of the names of the top stars and technicians occur, are melodious. Vijay Antony’s background score enhances the proceedings.

Madhi’s camera work is noteworthy while Lenin’s editing is a plus point. Bharathan’s dialogue is crisp and to the point. It is a love story with a difference.
